Austin, TX — The tallest new building in the United States is being built on a site in Texas’ southeast corner, and it is about to open.
Taylor Construction announced the new tower on Monday at its headquarters on the corner of Interstate 45 and Interstate 35W.
The tower is about 30 stories tall, according to the Austin American-Statesman, and is a part of the Austin Development Corporation’s planned new downtown tower.
The tower will be the tallest building in Austin, according a statement.
The building, which has a floor area of 4,700, will be located on the site of Taylor Construction’s existing office building, the company said in a news release.
The new tower will feature a new, larger roof with a 360-degree view, a larger pool, a new elevator, a fire escape, and a new plaza with a walkway that will connect the tower and the existing plaza, the statement said.
The company has also announced that it is partnering with The University of Texas at Austin to create a new science and technology campus at the site.
The University will build a new tower, the UT-Austin Tower, in partnership with the Taylor Construction group.
